Issues Merging Ancestry Records in FTM 2017 and FTM 2019

Update May 29 2021:

Yesterday afternoon fixes were made to address the isses with merging from Ancesry into FTM 2017 and FTM 2019.  Our team has done extensive testing to confirm that there are no lingering issues.  If you are personally still experiencing problems with merging, please come visit live chat so we can diagnose and address your concerns.

We've been receiving reports from users experiencing issues when trying to merge records from Ancestry into FTM 2017 and FTM 2019.  This can include having a blank Search Result Detail pane, a spinning circle in place of the Search Result Detail, or that the details will appear correctly in that pane but the Web Merge Wizard will not have the source citation attached.  This appears to be happening with certain types of records but is not affecting all databases.

If your FTM tree is synced with an Ancestry tree, as a workaround you can add records to your tree on the Ancestry website using your web browser, then sync your tree in FTM to download the new information.  However, if you have not chosen to sync your tree with Ancestry, it may be best to wait until the issue has been resolved to merge such records.

Our team has thoroughly analyzed the reports and replicated the issues, and our engineers have been making steady progress, working with Ancestry's engineers wherever needed in an effort to resolve the issues as soon as possible.  We would ask everyone's patience in the meantime, and hope to have an update soon.
