Printing Charts and Reports in Family Tree Maker
Answer ID 4307
How do I print charts and reports in Family Tree Maker?
This article discusses the following:
- Changing Printing Options
- Printing a Chart
- Printing a Poster
Changing Printing Options
- Access the chart you want to change.
- In the editing toolbar, click the Page setup button. The Page Setup window opens.
Note: More information about the Page Setup icon and the other icons underneath Chart and Report Options can be found by clicking here.
- Click the Size drop-down list to change the size of the paper if your printer is capable of printing larger sheets of paper. Otherwise, leave the selection at letter size, which is a standard 8 ½" x 11" sheet of paper.
- If necessary, choose a paper type or paper tray from the Source drop-down list.
- In the Orientation section, click Portrait if you want your document to print with the short edge of the paper at the bottom (the way a letter normally prints). This is the default setting. Click Landscape if you want your document to print with the long edge of the paper at the bottom.
- In the Margins section, make any necessary changes to the margin size of your report. By default, each page prints with quarter-inch margins on all sides.
- Click OK.
Printing a Chart
- Generate the chart or report you want to print.
- Click the Print button in the upper right-hand corner of the program.
- The Print window opens. Just like printing from any other application, you can choose a printer, select the number of copies to print, and choose a page range.
Printing a Poster
- Click the Share button in the toolbar above the editing panel.
- From the drop-down list, choose Export to One Page PDF. The PDF Export Options window opens.
- Change any options as necessary. Because this chart will be printed as a large poster, you will probably want to keep your image quality at the highest level possible.
- Click OK.
Your chart is now ready to upload to a flash drive, CD, or even a copy shop’s website. More information about saving and exporting a chart or report in Family Tree Maker can be found by clicking here.
