Customizing the Family Tree Maker sidebars
Family Tree Maker allows you close, open, and adjust the size of the different panes to customize the way Family Tree Maker looks. Please see the steps outlined below.
Closing or opening panes
To close or open many of the panes in Family Tree Maker, simply click on the dark arrow at the top, or left side of any of the separating bars. Please see the examples below.
Example 1: Vertical separating bar – found at the top of the bar
Example 2: Horizontal separating bar – found on the far left
Adjusting the width or height of a section
To adjust the width or height of a pane, click and drag the 8 small dots found in the middle of the separating bar. Please see the examples below.
Example 1: Vertical bar – found in the middle of the separating bar
Example 2: Horizontal separating bar – found in the middle of this bar
Double clicking on these 8 dots will also reset the width or height of this pane.
