Charts

Pedigree Chart
The Pedigree Chart is the most commonly used format for displaying a family tree and displays a graphic representation of a person’s direct-line ancestors.

The pedigree chart can be formatted to print within a regular-sized page or it can span across many pages to create a family tree poster.

Descendant Chart
The Descendant Chart is a graphical display of an individual’s descendants with the primary individual at the top of the page and his or her descendants below.

Relationship Chart
The Relationship Chart presents a graphical display of one person’s relationship to another including the relationship of each person in between.

Direct-line ancestors and descendants are shown vertically with the common relative at the top.

Hourglass Chart
The Hourglass chart is a graphical display of an individual’s ancestors and descendants with the primary individual’s ancestors above and the descendants below.

Vertical Pedigree Chart
The Vertical Pedigree Chart is a commonly used format for displaying a family tree and displays a graphic representation of a person’s direct-line ancestors.

Horizontal Hourglass Chart
The Horizontal Hourglass Chart is a graphical display of an individual’s ancestors, descendants, siblings, and spouses with the ancestors of the primary individual extending to the right and the descendants on the left.

Bow Tie Chart
The Bow Tie Chart is a commonly used format for displaying a family tree and displays a graphic representation of a person’s direct-line ancestors with the paternal line extending to the left and the maternal to the right.

180 Fan Chart
The 180 Degree Fan Chart is a commonly used format for displaying a family tree and displays a graphic representation of a person’s direct-line ancestors laid out with the nodes rotated in a 180 degree arching fan.

Family Tree Chart
The Family Tree Chart is a new graphical format for displaying a person’s direct-line ancestors. The individual nodes are not rotated.

Extended Family Chart
The Extended Family Chart shows generations of individuals aligned horizontally according to the number of ancestor and descendant generations specified up to all of the people in your tree.

Genealogy Reports

Register Report
The Register Report uses a descendant-ordered format starting with an ancestor and moving forward in time to that individual’s descendants.

The Register format is the format which is accepted by the New England Historic Genealogical Society, one of the oldest genealogical societies in the country. The Register format dates back to 1870 and is used to establish “pedigree.”

Ahnentafel Report
The Ahnentafel Report uses an ancestor-ordered format starting with one individual and moving backward in time to that individual’s ancestors.

Simple Register Report
The Simple Register Report uses a descendant-ordered format starting with an ancestor and moving forward in time to that individual’s descendants. This simplified format includes only vital facts in the biographical narratives. Non-vital facts (if included) are listed separately.

Person Reports

Individual Report
The Individual Report displays the primary picture (if one exists) and all of the facts, notes, and sources associated with a specific individual.

Custom Report
The Custom Report lets you define the individuals and the facts to include in the report. You can include or exclude any individual and any fact.

Research Note Report
The Research Note Report displays the research notes associated with the individuals in your tree, along with the name and birth and death dates of those individual.

LDS Ordinances
The LDS Ordinance Report displays birth, marriage, death, and LDS ordinance data for the people in your tree.

Task List
The Task List Report displays all of the tasks in your tree in priority order with an option to include or exclude completed tasks.

Data Errors Report
The Data Errors Report shows where data is missing or where Family Tree Maker sees there may be a mistake on a person’s record in your tree. To fix an error, double-click on a name in the report or edit the person’s record in the “People” workspace.

Timeline Report
The Timeline report displays the events of a person’s life in chronological order. It can optionally include events of the person’s immediate family as well as historical events to put the person’s life in context with the things that occurred during his or her lifetime.

Relationship Reports

Family Group Sheet
The Family Group Sheet is a detailed report about a single nuclear family (two parents and their children) including names, birth dates, death dates, marriage dates, and more. You can also include a picture for each individual.

Kinship Report
The Kinship Report shows how individuals in your tree are related to a specific person.

Marriage Report
The Marriage Report lists the names of husbands and wives, their marriage data and the status of the marriage.

Parentage Report
The Parentage Report displays each individual with the names of his or her parents, and the parents’ relationship to the child (e.g., natural, adopted, foster).

Outline Descendant Report

The Outline Descendant report shows where everyone fits in the family. Starting with a relative in the past, it moves to the present, showing the primary individual’s children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and so on, generation by generation in outline format, with each individual on a separate line.

Place Reports

Place Usage Report The Place Usage Report lists all of the places associate with every person in your tree.

Each entry includes the place name, the names of people associated with it, and each of the person’s events that occurred in that place.

Media Reports

Media Item
The Media Item report displays a printout of the media item with its caption, date, categories, description, and a list of people linked to it.

This report is most useful for image file types such as .jpg, .bmp, .gif, .tif, .png, and .emf. The content of non-image file types is not printed, but the file type icon is displayed in the image area.

Photo Album
The Photo Album Report displays the name, birth, death, marriage information, and all the photos associated with one individual.

Only image media items (.jpg, .bmp, .gif, .tif, .png, .emf) are included and can be displayed in two to six columns depending on the size you want them to appear.

Media Usage Report
The Media Usage Report lists all of the media items in your tree.

Each entry includes a small thumbnail image (or file type icon for non-image files) the media caption, the file location, and the names of people linked to it.

Source Reports

Source Usage Report
The Source Usage Report displays all of the sources you have created and lists the individuals and facts associated with each source.

Source Bibliography
The Bibliography Report creates a bibliography for your family tree based on the source information you have entered.

Documented Facts
The Documented Facts Report lists all of the facts in your tree for which you have source information.

Other

Calendar Report
The Calendar Report lets you see birth dates, anniversaries, and other events in a monthly calendar format.

Text Item

The Text Item Report allows you to add text and pictures to a report and save the report for later use. This report is useful for creating non-standard reports to include in a book. For example, you can include a short biography, fun stories, family member’s favorite recipes, or even jokes. You can also include any image from your computer.


Books

Genealogy Book

can create a professional-looking book to share with others made from charts, reports, and documents. The book will be saved in PDF format, which means that others will be able to view and print the book on their personal computers even if they don’t own or use the Family Tree Maker program.
