Inserting a photo into a Family Group Sheet in Family Tree Maker for Mac

Answer ID 1814
How do I insert a family photo to the top of a Family Group Sheet in Family Tree Maker for Mac?

This article assumes you already are familiar with creating this type of report, and has instructions for adding a photo to the top only.

Before a photo can be used as the family picture on a Family Group Sheet, it needs to be assigned as media to the Relationship for the parents included in this report.

  1. From the People workspace, click the Family tab and select either of the parent’s names in this family from the index on the left.

  2. With one of the parents selected, please click on the Marriage facts button in the Family Group view.

  3. In the window that appears, click on the Media tab at the top.

  4. This is the media section we need to add this photo to. To do this, please click on the drop down arrow next to New, and select one of the 3 options to add media to this fact.

    • Add New Media allows you to import a photo that isn’t currently in your main Media gallery. Clicking on this gives you a window that allows you to locate and open the photo from a folder on your computer.
    • Link to Existing Media allows you to attach a photo that is already in your media gallery to this fact. Selecting this gives you a window showing your current media gallery.
    • Scan Media allows you to scan a photo directly to this fact’s media. Clicking this will open up the scanner dialog box.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Now we can add this photo to the top of a Family Group Sheet. After generating your report, you can add this by clicking on the Family Picture drop down menu on the right and changing it from None to the photo you selected.

  7. Your report should now have your photo showing at the top.
