Opening a Tree in FTM 2017 for Mac

How do I open an existing tree in Family Tree Maker 2017?

  1. Click the Plan button on the main toolbar and make sure the New Tree tab is selected. The Open a tree section located on the lower left-hand side of the window lists the trees that you’ve recently worked on.

  2. To open a tree from this list, double-click the tree name. You can also highlight the tree and click Options, then Open Tree.

  3. If the tree is not in the list, you can click Options > Browse to open a "Select Family Tree Maker File" window where you can search your computer for the file location to open it.



    Alternatively, you can go to the File menu and click Open.

  4. Once you have the navigation window open, just navigate to the folder on your computer that contains your tree files and choose which one you'd like to open.
