Creating a TreeVault Antenna Tree

When you are logged in to TreeVault® and open an FTM tree for the first time, you are automatically prompted to create a TreeVault Antenna tree from it if you haven’t done so already. If you want to create your Antenna tree using the current tree as the FTM Source tree, click Create Antenna Tree in the message that appears and then Close in the message that appears after that.

Note: You can have only one Antenna tree at a time, and only one FTM Source tree can be linked to your Antenna tree. If you later decide to use a different Source tree to create an Antenna tree, the first Antenna tree will be deleted. Similarly, if you use your Antenna tree to create a new FTM Source tree, only changes to this new FTM tree will be applied to your Antenna tree.

You can also create an Antenna tree from an FTM tree any time you like using the TreeVault icon on the main toolbar or in the TreeVault Cloud Services panel on the Current Tree tab on the Plan workspace. This is described in the following topics:

Creating a TreeVault Antenna Tree in FTM 2019 for Mac

  1. In FTM 2019, open the tree that you want to use as your Source tree.
     
  2. If you are already logged in to TreeVault, skip to step 4. If not, click the TreeVault icon on the main toolbar or in the TreeVault Cloud Services panel on the Current Tree tab on the Plan workspace, and then click Log in.


     
  3. Enter the email address and password that you provided when creating your TreeVault account and click Log In.
  4. Click the TreeVault icon and choose Create Antenna Tree from the pop-up menu.
     
  5. In the message that appears, click Create Antenna Tree.


     
  6. In the message that appears next, click Close.


Your Source tree’s data will start uploading in the background, allowing you to continue working in Family Tree Maker® while it happens. The progress of the data transfer is shown in the TreeVault Cloud Services panel on the Current Tree tab on the Plan workspace. 

Once the TreeVault Antenna tree is created, it will be linked with the FTM Source tree and any changes you make to the Source tree in Family Tree Maker will be applied to the Antenna tree automatically.

  1. In FTM 2019, open the tree that you want to use as your Source tree.
     
  2. If you are already logged in to TreeVault, skip to step 4. If not, click the TreeVault icon on the main toolbar or in the TreeVault Cloud Services panel on the Current Tree tab on the Plan workspace, and then click Log In.


     
  3. Enter the email address and password that you provided when creating your TreeVault account and click Log In.
     
  4. Click the TreeVault icon and choose Create Antenna Tree from the drop-down list.
     
  5. In the message that appears, click Create Antenna Tree.


     
  6. In the message that appears next, click Close.

Your Source tree’s data will start uploading in the background, allowing you to continue working in Family Tree Maker while it happens. The progress of the data transfer is shown in the TreeVault Cloud Services panel on the Current Tree tab on the Plan workspace. 

Once the TreeVault Antenna tree is created, it will be linked with the FTM Source tree and any changes you make to the Source tree in Family Tree Maker will be applied to the Antenna tree automatically.
