Managing Relationships
The Manage Relationships tool lets you filter relationships by type and change one relationship type to another, whether that be for a single relationship or in bulk.
- Click Edit > Manage Relationships. The Manage Relationships dialog opens.
- Choose the type of relationship you want to change from the Show relationships pop-up menu.
- The Relationship Instances list shows all relationships of the selected type. The total number of instances appears next to the list heading.
- Select the checkbox next to each of the relationships you want to change the type of. To change all the relationships in the list, select the Select all checkbox.
- From the Change selected relationships to this type pop-up menu, choose the new relationship type you want the selected relationship to have.
- Click Apply.
- When you're finished, click Close.
Tip: The Show relationships filter allows you to find, for example, all couples who have a Marriage fact but whose relationship type is "Unknown". This makes the tool very handy for changing such relationships to Spouse. For an example, see below:
