How do I add or sort children in Family Tree Maker for Mac?

This article discusses the following:

 

Adding Children

  1. Click the People button on the main toolbar, and select the Family tab (if necessary).

  2. Select the individual or couple you want to add this child to from the index on the left.

  3. Click Add Child in the family group view.

  4. Enter the child’s name (first name, middle name (if applicable), and last name) in the window that appears. Choose a gender from the drop-down list and click Done. The child becomes the focus of the editing panel but not the pedigree view.

Sorting children in the Family Group View

With the Family you want to sort the children for selected and showing in the Family Group view:

  • To change the display order of a specific child, click the individual’s name in the family group view and then click the up and down arrow buttons.

  • To sort the children by birth date, click the Sort children by birth button.
