How do I assign a primary photo for a person in Family Tree Maker for Mac?


Assigning a new picture as the primary photo for an individual

With Family Tree Maker open to the People workspace:

  1. Select the person you want to assign the primary photo to from the index on the left.

  2. Control-click on the silhouette or current primary photo in the editing panel for this person, and select Add New Picture…

  3. Using the Select image as preferred image for the person window, find the picture you want for the primary photo on your computer. Please click the photo to select it, and then click Open.

  4. Choose how you want to link to this file, what categories it falls under (if any), and click OK.

  5. This image should now be showing as the primary photo for this person.

Using a photo already added to your Media

With Family Tree Maker open to the People workspace

  1. Select the person you want to assign the primary photo to from the index on the left.

  2. Control-click on the silhouette or current primary photo in the editing panel for this person, and select Link to Existing Picture…

  3. Using the Find Media Item window, find the image you want to use for the primary photo for this person. Please select this image, and then click OK.

  4. This image should now be showing as the primary photo for this person.
