VERSION 23.3.0.570 - WINDOWS

OVERVIEW

This important maintenance build provides updated compatibility with Ancestry and FamilySearch, as well as other important fixes.

ANCESTRY

  • Orange Weather solution. This solves the sync issue that prompted us to go to manual Orange status in both FTM 2017 and FTM 2019. It eliminates the undesirable effects of syncing a second time after a failed sync and allow users to return to Green sync weather status.
  • More secure connection to Ancestry. We’ve applied new technology to ensure an even more secure connection for syncing, getting hints, and merging records from Ancestry.
  • Social Security Number issue fixed. A problem where the Social Security Number fact was labeled “Unknown” on Ancestry after syncing has been resolved.
  • Media download issue. A problem where symbols in the names of specific media files downloaded from Ancestry were lost or changed has been resolved.
  • More reliable Sync. A number of improvements were made based on issues found in specific user trees that further improve sync reliability.
  • Ancestry login retained. Users are now kept logged in to Ancestry.com on the Web Search workspace so login is no longer required for a second time if connection to Ancestry has been established already.
  • Ancestry search loading issue fixed. An issue has been fixed where the "Ancestry.com" search page could not be loaded in some cases after a site had been selected from Favorites.
  • Ancestry search categories issue fixed. A problem has been fixed where clicking the "Back (Web Search)" button after selecting a category did not redisplay the list of categories on Ancestry.com.
  • Empty Parents fields fixed. In the “Search result detail” section of the Web Search workspace, the fields for the parents of a person no longer appear empty for some records.
  • Search categories selection retained. Family Tree Maker now remembers which search categories were previously selected when performing a new search.
  • Dimmed Ignore Record button fixed. The Ignore Record button is no longer dimmed after following an Ancestry hint.

FAMILYSEARCH

  • FamilySearch support. In order to support changes made by FamilySearch, we’ve made necessary adjustments for hints and search to function properly and made modifications to optimize FamilySearch performance for all users.
  • FamilySearch login retained. Users are now kept logged in to FamilySearch on the Web Search workspace so login is no longer required on every application launch.
  • Merge issue fixed. An issue has been fixed where, when trying to merge only one record, all sources for the person on FamilySearch were merged into the FTM tree.

INDEX

  • Index list text distortion fixed. The distortion of text in the Index list that could occur when switching between individuals in the tree viewer has been fixed.
  • Recently selected individuals list preserved. Family Tree Maker now saves and restores the list of recently selected individuals when a tree is reopened.

MEDIA

  • Media count issue fixed. A problem has been resolved where the number of media items for a fact did not change after deleting a linked source citation with media.
  • Relationship media issue fixed. An issue has been fixed where the Media Detail window would not open for a media file that had just been added to the Media tab of the Edit Relationship dialog.
  • Display of media linked to shared facts. Media items linked to shared facts are now displayed in the Media and People workspaces.
  • Media for selected person shown when adding portrait. When adding a profile portrait using the Link to Existing Picture option, the primary person is now automatically selected and visible in the Find Media Item dialog.
  • Immediate Family list updating. We have fixed an issue with the people list on the Media workspace so that when it is sorted by "Immediate Family" it is now refreshed with recent changes made on the People workspace.

GEDCOM

  • Private facts stay private on export and reopening. All private facts now remain private after a tree is exported to GEDCOM format and then reopened in Family Tree Maker.
  • Export of addresses for a Submitter improved. Exports are now formatted using the ADDR and CONT tags.
  • ADDRESS_STRUCTURE under the RESI tag is not skipped in imported GEDCOM files.

REPORTS

  • Ahnentafel report issue fixed. The Ahnentafel report no longer assigns zero or a negative number to people if more than 64 generations are included.
  • Kinship report issue fixed. An issue has been fixed that prevented the creation of a Kinship report for trees with many generations when the "Sort individuals by kinship" option was turned on.

OTHER FIXES

  • Stability improved. Commonly reported crashes have been fixed:
    • when downloading a tree with media from Ancestry onto a server if connection with the server was lost
    • on adding an image to a specific tree via Add New Picture in the editing panel of the People workspace
    • when clicking on specific facts on the Person tab in a particular tree
    • after switching between Web Search and other workspaces and clicking any search site links while in offline mode
    • when adding parents to a person whose name was changed after clicking “Add parents" in the People workspace
  • Find and Replace freeze fixed. The application no longer freezes when the Go To button in the Find and Replace dialog is clicked.

  • Finding people with an apostrophe. The people with an apostrophe in their names can now be found with the Find and Replace tool.
  • Task category export issue fixed. Tasks now have the category that was assigned to them included in exported .ftmb files.
  • One-person export issue fixed. An exported FTM file with only one person will no longer contain notes from the entire tree.
  • Favorites sites open as expected. Websites added to the Favorites list on the Web Search workspace now open when selected a second time.

Adding a person to a large tree does not cause freezing any more.
  • Disk space issue during backup resolved. An issue has been fixed that appeared when backing up an FTM tree file to an external drive and caused huge amounts of disk space to be taken up by system-created files.
  • Merge Wizard issue fixed. A problem in the Merge Wizard has been resolved where the Host and Import file names were not visible if the paths to the files were very long.
