We have been receiving reports from users regarding intermittent sync failures. We have posted the message below in the sync weather report as advice, and will update this message when we have made progress toward resolution.
If you attempt to sync while weather is orange and consistently experience failures, you may have no alternative but to wait until the situation has been resolved. If you have an urgent need to sync, you can come to live chat so we can review your sync logs and attempt to troubleshoot, though depending on the exact issue there may be no other option but to wait.
(MAY 9 UPDATE) ORANGE STATUS
- SYNC WITH CAUTION
- UPLOAD/DOWNLOAD NOT RECOMMENDED
We are still experiencing brief interruptions in sync connections from time to time as Ancestry implements upgrades on their side. Our engineers are working closely with Ancestry engineers to restore green status as soon as possible.
RECOMMENDATIONS
SYNC
If you have an urgent need to sync your tree, please make a backup then go ahead. In case sync fails, please try again in an hour.
NEW UPLOAD and DOWNLOAD
We recommend that you do not upload to or download from Ancestry at this time, and wait until weather is green. If you choose to attempt a new upload or download and experience a failure there is no current workaround.
USING ANCESTRY TREE AS A CLOUD BACKUP?
If you cannot sync or upload to Ancestry but still need to have an up-to-date cloud backup of your tree, your TreeVault Antenna tree has you covered. Click here to learn more.
ALWAYS, ALWAYS BACK UP BEFORE SYNCING
You should make a manual backup whenever you sync, upload or download, and that's especially true when the weather status is orange. For instructions please click here.
